CITY OF JEFFERSONVILLE IDENTITY

Jeffersonville, Indiana

Nearby the Falls of the Ohio River and named after President Thomas Jefferson, the city’s location played a strategic role in the Civil War, which included an important Quartermaster Supply Depot. The city was also served by three major railroads and well known for a lengthy steamboat and shipbuilding history.

Under the direction of Mayor Thomas R. Galligan, Cheryl Smith was tasked with creating an identity system for the city beginning with the design of a city seal that would reflect Jeffersonville’s rich history.

The new seal was gradually integrated into all aspects of the city’s identity, including historic district signage, inside the remodeled city office buildings in the historic Quartermaster Depot, on city vehicles, print materials, and a newly developed website.
